I personally feel that if the General does not get charged then "let all hell break loose." In the last press con that I attended, media men were “accusing” me of being calloused. Well dearies, I never give any of you guys hell...I just tell the TRUTH and you think it's HELL!
THE Sandiganbayan Second Division on April 2008 acquitted former Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia of perjury. The Sandiganbayan ordered the Bureau of Immigration to lift the hold-departure order on the former general and some of the Generals family members are reportedly back in the United States. But the General will remain in prison, as he still faces charges of violating Republic Act 7080 or the PLUNDER LAW.
By the way, if it were not for two PRIVATE lawyers, this case would never have prospered. Although, then AFP Chief of Staff Narciso Abaya, heard about the mess that the Garcia's were in, he did not remove General Garcia from the office of Comptrollership nor did he reprimand him. Even then Ombudsman Simeon Marcelo did not make moves to investigate Garcia for plunder until private lawyers Frank Chavez and Mario Ongkiko and their organization CLEAN HANDS Inc. filed a complaint with the Ombudsman on March 15, 2005 for plunder against the general. Kudos to Frank Chavez and Mario Ongkiko!
To satisfy Kitty Go's curiosity about "Mommy Garcia", this is what exactly was written by her...
The story became really explosive when the generals wife, Clarita, tried to get her sons out of their family's hullabaloo. In her letter she says, “(husband) Carlos receives travel money and expenses in excess of several thousand dollars. I often travel with my husband on business and my travel expenses and shopping money in excess of US$10,000 to $20,000 is provided to me. He also receives cash for travel and expenses from the businesses that are awarded contracts for military hardware. These businesses are in Europe and Asia. He also receives gifts and gratitude money from several Philippine companies that are awarded military contracts to build roads, bridges and military housing... The expense money, gratitude money and shopping money is not declared as income...”
Doesn't this remind you of mama Montano, dearies?
The Garcias own real estate in the US: a $765,000 condo on 502 Park Avenue and a $750,000 apartment at 222 East 34th Street, both in New York City, and a house in the town of Westerville, Ohio, of undisclosed value and properties in their hometown Iloilo. The media later revealed that there are at least eight (8) luxury vehicles registered in their names at the Land Transportation Office, and that Gen. Garcia maintained 40 BANK accounts in several Philippine banks.
The money we are talking about here is enough to provide a years worth MEDICAL SUPPLIES to the dying soldiers in Mindanao. What better words to describe the Garcia's actuations but ABSOLUTE GREED!

I can never get along with my extremely religious mom when it comes to faith. But when it comes to integrity, our minds meet. We both agree with what the Bible has to say-
Blessed is the man that hath a virtuous wife, for the number of his days shall be double.
